How It All Started

The Story Behind Hangry Joe's

It all started in a backyard in Franklin, Indiana. Joe — a self-taught cook with an obsession for perfectly spiced fried chicken — spent years refining his signature blend of cayenne, paprika, and secret spices. Friends and neighbors would line up at his doorstep every weekend, leaving happily full and thoroughly satisfied.

In 2018, Joe took the leap and opened the first hangry joe's kitchen. What began as a 400-square-foot operation quickly became a local legend. The word spread fast: the chicken was unlike anything else — fiery, flavorful, and cooked with genuine care.

Today, Hangry Joe's carries that same spirit into every plate we serve. Every piece of chicken is hand-breaded, every sauce crafted from scratch, and every order packed with the same love that started it all.

2018

The First Kitchen Opens

Joe opens the first Hangry Joe's hot chicken kitchen in Franklin, Indiana. Operating out of a tiny space with just two fryers and a dream, the community response is immediate and overwhelming.

2019

Expanding the Menu

After mastering the classic sandwich, Hangry Joe's introduces its legendary tenders, loaded fries, and signature sauces — each one developed through months of testing and tasting.

2020

Pivoting & Persevering

Facing industry-wide challenges, Hangry Joe's launched curbside pickup and local delivery — discovering a whole new audience and reinforcing deep community bonds in the process.

2021

New Location & Team Growth

Moved to our current home at 200 Paris Dr, Franklin, IN — a larger space that allowed us to serve more guests, grow our team, and introduce catering for local events.

2023

Online Ordering Launch

Hangry Joe's launches its full online ordering platform, making it easier than ever for fans across the United States to access their favorite hot chicken meals with a few clicks.

2024

25,000 Customers Milestone
